TCT’s Investigation into Edward Albee’s All Over:
Edward Albee’s All Over was originally produced in 1971 at the Martin Beck Theater in New York City. In an effort to explore how the play’s themes pertain to everyone (and more specifically to the younger generation), TCT’s first Artistic Director, Danny Mitarotondo, and TCT member Michael Pantozzi approached Mr. Albee in the winter of 2007 with an idea to re-imagine the play through a younger lens – by casting the roles with actors two or three times younger than written.
In the spring of 2008, TCT performed a small section of Act One for the public at The Geraldine Page Salon for the Arts and then, at Mr. Albee’s request, performed the play in its entirety in the fall of 2008, taking it to a more stylized realm at TheaterLab in Greenwich Village. After the fall workshop, another idea came about: that of having a double cast of both younger and age-appropriate actors.
The next phase of the project was explored in a staged reading in December 2011 at the Atlantic Theater Company’s Mainstage in Chelsea.
